How Can Surge Protection Work?

The live cable or main power line in a surge protector includes an extra linked connection that feeds into an earth cable. An earth wire’s purpose would be to direct any additional current safely to the ground. The surge connection in the shield remains inactive until a bigger than normal voltage appears. This extra current is then safely diverted through the extra earth wire, directly into the ground. This prevents more current than ordinary from flowing into your appliances effectively making sure that they are protected from any injury that could be caused by power surges.
